I recently had the opportunity to review Paul Walker's new full-length solo album and first for Motown Gospel CD Titled F.R.E.E., his solo debut on Tre Myles Music/Motown Gospel/Mars On Sunday features Paul's unmistakable vocals and inspired messages set to soulful melodies.For nearly three decades, Paul Porter has endeared himself to Gospel music lovers around the world. As the lead vocalist of the legendary group The Christianaires, he earned numerous nominations and awards---including GRAMMY®, Dove, and Stellar awards---and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.Paul Porter sings from experience. A founding member of the popular Christianaires quartet.He developed an aneurysm at age 34, was then wheelchair-bound for three years and did not fully recover for the better part of a decade.Nothing short of a miraculous recovery saved him from becoming a permanent invalid.“Ground Zero” is one of many incredible songs on this album. “Ground Zero,” is a heartwarming inspirational ballad and reference to 9/11,It encourages us all that there is hope after seemingly insurmountable challenges.“Time For Your Blessing” has a brassy punch, funky bass licks, breakdowns."F.R.E.E" the Title Track is a reflection on what is really important in life and features Smokie Norful. “I Wanna Know” featuring Ruben Studdard and Le'Andria Johnson. Porter, Ruben Studdard, and Le’Andria Johnson make a powerful trio. Le’Andria also reads of one of the verses in the song.It is a cover of the Foreigner/New Jersey Mass Choir’s “I Want to Know What Love Is.” The song “Joy,” gets Paul back to his days singing quartet,where he has a quartet shouting.“You Can’t Give Up” is a bluesy gospel song.“Full Bloom” gospel veteran Rance Allen lends his unmistakable voice to this song. “Put Him First” featuring Charmaine Swimpson is a wonderful signing partner to Porter.
