What is a Sunshine Baby,Angel Baby and Rainbow Baby?

♥ What is a sunshine baby? A sunshine baby is a baby conceived before a family is struck by loss. A baby conceived before devastation has held a place in a family's heart and their symbol of love, before they knew anything about shattered dreams.

♥ What is an angel baby? An angel baby is a baby sadly lost to miscarriage, stillbirth or lost in the days, weeks, months or years after birth.

♥ What is a rainbow baby? A Rainbow Baby is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn't mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy and hope.

I have 2 angel babies.Then was told I probably wouldnt be able to carry a baby full term. Six years into my marriage, after giving up hope that there would be any children...my rainbow baby arrived. Rainbow miracle!! That was 20 years ago. <3

I'm so sorry for your losses but also EXTREMELY happy to hear of your rainbow baby. I lost 4 before have my rainbow baby 26 1/2 years ago. Now I have 3 beautiful surviving grandchildren, 1 angel baby granddaughter and another rainbow baby grandson on the way

in my opinion after being told you'd never have kids (the storm and clouds are then taking over ur feelings) and then suddenly you're amazingly gonna be a mommy! that's definitely a rainbow baby. the beauty after the storm. even more though: it's a miracle baby! good luck to you momma! and remember: lots of rest and water and eat what you crave cuz that craving means yr body needs something that is in that particular food. (at least after 2 kids that's what my doctors and other doctors have told us!) xoxoxo congrats!

Very big Congrats to you & yours! I was told the exact same thing & now my daughters are 15 & 12! Enjoy that lil angel, it will be the best gift you've ever been given & they will just keep on giving you gifts for the rest of your life! I was told at 17, with my second miscarriage due to statutory raps, that my uterus was septate, and I would never have children. I would continue to miscarry. So I married a man with 3 children, and had already been clipped. Some how we conceived my daughter when I was 23. Sadly we divorced, and I got pregnant in my next relationship but had to terminate it due to a tubal pregnancy. Then I found out that I was immediately pregnant with my son. My current husband and I have his 3 my 3 and our two.

I have never heard these terms for our children. My first son Keagan Rai is an Angel Baby. My second son Morgan James is a rainbow baby. I had Hodgkins lymphoma at age 16 and was told that I would never have children. So getting pregnant truly was a miracle. Thanks I love this group.

I had 3 beatiful children about two years ago, ages 12, 10, and 5. My 10 year old son passed away unexpectedly which makes his older sister and younger brother sunshine babies? Now I had another daughter 6 months old which makes her a rainbow baby? Am I correct? The terms seem to focus on miscarriages and infant loss and im confused on if the meaning still used with that loss of a child. Thank you

I'm not an expert with this topic (although I did recently suffer a miscarriage), but I believe the terms "sunshine, angel, and rainbow" are geared more towards pregnancy and infant loss. Mostly because of the psychological uncertainty with getting pregnant again, not knowing if you'll be able to carry to term and take your baby home to raise them. I can't begin to imagine the pain your family has endured with the loss of your son!! So even though it wasn't infant loss, I'm sure your youngest has been a rainbow in your lives in many ways. <3

I fell pregnant when I was 18 sadly miscarried at 12 weeks. Then fell pregnant at 21 with my now 2 year old little girl. And sadky afer being married for 2 days I experienced an ectopic so had emergency surgery and tube removed just 2 weeks ago. Hoping to tic again soon as it was just debasing and need some good to come to us X

I've got two sunshine babies. Daughters 9&4 years old. In March 2015 i lost my angel baby at 8wks pregnant. I am currently 11wks pregnant with my rainbow baby. After finding out I've got pcos after I lost my baby. It's been an almost year struggle to get pregnant with my rainbow baby.

So what is it called if you have another baby after your rainbow baby? Is the second one after the angel baby not as significant, or do you just have two rainbow babies?

Depends. If there's no loss in between, it's a pot of gold or golden baby. If there's another loss in between it's called a double rainbow.

My last son is a rainbow baby and my son on the way is a sunshine baby since 3 days after we found out we were pregnant my grandfather killed himself, just months after my grandma gave into cancer after surviving for 26 years longer that she was supposed to, both of my sons (to me an my family atleast) are wonder and amazing gifts from those we lost

A discussion came in a group today. We have "symbols" for sunshine babies, rainbow babies and Angel babies. What is the symbol for a miracle baby? One that was born, was not expected to survive but did. Asking because we were discussing Christmas ornaments of the different babies. I would like to go back and tell them this would be your symbol. I had 5 miscarriages before I had my son. The 5th miscarriage was a shock because my husband and I were trying and I got into a car wreck. I lost the baby and I somehow survived with 2 broken femurs, dislocated right elbow, and split pelvic. The therapy was so painful. Because of the trauma I couldn't get pregnant. It was painful for us both. Years later into my second marriage I was pregnant with my handsome son, I was definitely high risk and had to be careful because I was a Soldier. Afterwards my 7th miscarriage in 2013, 8th one in 2014. We were seen for infertility and our chances were slim because of the testing they did on both of us. We decided to stop trying because it affected my mental and physical state. 2015 I found out I was pregnant which was a surprise because we stopped trying. Then the biggest surprise was finding out I was pregnant with TWINS! I was scared and excited at the same time. I ended up having my twins at 25 weeks and 2 days. It was the most stressful time between spending all day with my then almost 4 year old and staying all night at the children's hospital. 127 and 130 days my girls were in there. They came home with oxygen tanks and pulseox monitor.
My son will be 8 in November and my girls will be 4 in September. You wouldn't know they were preemies by looking at them, but if you know their age then you will think they are tiny. They are all strong and beautiful.

My cousin passed away in a horrible car crash when he was just 16 years old. It devastated my aunt. We found out at the funeral that his girlfriend was pregnant and they hadn't dared to tell anyone. She was having a girl. That's a sunshine baby. That little girl grew up to be a teacher! And the apple of her grandma's eye! She looks just like her dad and she saved the whole families sanity from an awful tragedy.

My daughter was a Sunshine baby, was told I couldn't have children, found out the Dr. meant shouldn't not couldn't. Used 3 forms of birth control but still miraculously got pregnant with twin boys. After a very difficult pregnancy and labor first out was my (Sunshine/Rainbow/Miracle)son, next my Angel son. Had a tubal immediately following birth.

Thanks for helping me understand that an angel baby would be one that have been lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, or lost within a couple of days or months. I will share this information with my sister and she might get a solar angel state sympathy gift for her best friend. It's after the incident that happened to them that led to the tragic event regarding their first born.
